- 2 large apples, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
- 1 egg, beaten
- Turbinado sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well.
- Cut pie crusts into circles large enough to fit into muffin tins.
- Press a crust circle into each muffin compartment.
- Fill each with apple mixture.
- Top with another crust circle, sealing the edges.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use crisp apples like Granny Smith for best flavor.
- Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
