- 1 pre-made pizza crust (12-inch)
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions, cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Add sugar, thyme, salt, pepper, and cook for another 2 minutes. Pour in beef broth and simmer until mostly absorbed, about 5 minutes.
- Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pizza crust.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyere and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the onions.
- Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, slice, and serve.
Notes
- You can substitute the beef broth with vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
- For extra flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar while caramelizing the onions.
