Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer chicken to a baking dish. In the same skillet, add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in chopped basil and cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour the creamy basil sauce over the chicken breasts.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over each chicken breast.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with extra basil if desired and serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute fresh basil with 1 teaspoon dried basil if fresh is unavailable.
- For a richer flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sauce.
- This dish pairs well with garlic mashed potatoes or a fresh green salad.
