Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Korean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 2 teaspoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water or beef broth
- Green onions, sliced, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Cooked rice, to serve
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients and measure out liquids and seasonings for a streamlined cooking process.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sesame oil, then sauté garlic, onion, and ginger until fragrant. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking apart with a spatula.
- Stir in soy sauce, gochujang, brown sugar, and water or broth. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for about 5 minutes until sauce thickens and flavors meld.
- Serve the beef mixture over cooked rice. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. For added spice, include sliced chili peppers or a soft-boiled egg.
Notes
- Use high-quality beef for richer flavor.
- Adjust spiciness by adding more gochujang or chili flakes.
- For a healthier version, substitute brown rice with cauliflower rice.
