Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup beef or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully peel the cabbage leaves, removing about 12 large leaves, and blanch in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until flexible. Drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf, roll up, and tuck in the sides.
- In a baking dish, spread half of the tomato sauce, place the cabbage rolls seam side down, and cover with remaining sauce and broth.
- Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until cooked through and bubbly.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- For added flavor, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
- If cabbage leaves are too small, use larger leaves or double them for easier rolling.
