Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) of pasta (penne, macaroni, or fusilli)
  • 1 pound (450g) of ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup (240ml) marinara sauce
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the pasta until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion until translucent. Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in diced tomatoes and marinara sauce, simmering for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a bowl, combine cooked pasta with the turkey mixture. Mix in half of the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Top with remaining cheeses. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated cheese for better flavor and meltability.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach for added nutrition.
