Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup crushed crackers (such as Ritz or buttery crackers)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef or turkey with chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until evenly incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape each into a round patty slightly larger than your buns, with a small indentation in the center.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each burger for 4-5 minutes per side until desired doneness. During the last minute, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
- Crush the crackers into fine crumbs. Once cheese is melted, sprinkle the crackers generously over each burger, pressing lightly to adhere.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun, adding optional toppings like lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Cover with the top bun and serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, experiment with different cheese varieties such as Swiss or pepper jack.
- Keep the cracker topping separate until reheating to maintain crunchiness.
- You can prepare the burger patties in advance and store them refrigerated until ready to cook.
