  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large baguette or Italian bread loaf
  • 2 cups cooked spaghetti (preferably with marinara or your favorite sauce)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the loaf of bread horizontally, leaving about 1 inch around the edges to create a boat. Carefully hollow out some of the bread from the center, leaving a sturdy border to hold the filling.
  2. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and chopped parsley. Brush this garlic butter mixture generously on the inside and the edges of the bread hollow.
  3. Mix the cooked spaghetti with marinara sauce, half of the shredded mozzarella, and grated Parmesan. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
  4. Fill the hollowed bread with the spaghetti mixture, pressing down gently to pack it in. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese evenly on top.
  5. Wrap the entire bread in aluminum foil and bake at 375°F for about 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For a crispy top, uncover the bread for the last 5 minutes of baking.
  6. Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice into portions. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use a sturdy bread that can hold the filling without collapsing.
  • Adjust the amount of cheese based on your preference for cheesiness.
  • Add cooked sausage, mushrooms, or vegetables to the spaghetti for extra flavor.
  • Ensure the spaghetti mixture is not too watery to prevent sogginess.
