- 1 sponge cake, cubed
- 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups vanilla custard or pudding
- Caramel sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- Prepare the whipped cream by beating heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Layer sponge cake cubes at the bottom of a glass bowl.
- Add a layer of custard over the sponge cake.
- Sprinkle a handful of mixed berries on top of the custard.
- Repeat layers until the bowl is filled, ending with whipped cream and berries on top.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the final layer and garnish with a sprig of mint if desired.
Notes
- You can use store-bought custard or make your own for a more indulgent flavor.
- Fresh berries can be replaced with freeze-dried or preserved berries for variation.
- Chill the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.
