Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 6 large russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (or homemade ranch)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by boiling the peeled and cubed potatoes in salted water until tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, sauté the sliced smoked sausage over medium heat until browned and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the ranch seasoning mix, sour cream, milk, and melted butter. Stir until smooth and well-blended. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the cooked potatoes with the ranch mixture until evenly coated. Add the cooked sausage and half of the shredded cheese. Mix gently.
- Transfer everything into a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining cheese and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce into the ranch mixture.
- You can substitute the smoked sausage with chicken or turkey sausage for a leaner option.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
