Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
- 1 cup warm milk
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- Optional: cinnamon, raisins, or chocolate chips for filling
Instructions
- Activate the yeast in warm milk mixed with a teaspoon of sugar; let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
- Add melted butter and eggs to the flour mixture, then pour in the activated yeast mixture.
- Knead until the dough becomes soft and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide into equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a ball or oblong shape. Fill with cinnamon and sugar or chocolate chips if desired.
- Place the shaped dough on a greased baking dish, leaving space for expansion.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Rest the rolls for 15 minutes, then bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and brush with melted butter for a glossy finish.
Notes
- To add extra flavor, incorporate cinnamon, dried fruits, or nuts into the dough or filling.
- For best results, use high-quality ingredients and ensure the yeast is fresh.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or frozen for longer storage.
