Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free alternative
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup milk or non-dairy milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into small, bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until smooth. Fold in the apple pieces gently.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
- Use a tablespoon or small cookie scoop to form the batter into evenly sized portions. Place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between each.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through cooking.
- Allow the apple fritters to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey. Serve warm or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider sprinkling with additional cinnamon or drizzling with caramel sauce.
- Use different apple varieties like Fuji or Pink Lady for varied flavor profiles.
- Ensure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.
