Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 4-5 tablespoons ice water
- 5 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Combine flour, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add ice water gradually, mixing until dough forms. Divide into two disks, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out one disk on a floured surface and fit into a pie pan.
- In a bowl, mix sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour filling into prepared crust.
- Roll out second disk and cover the filling. Trim edges and make a few slits on top for steam escape.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Cool before serving.
Notes
- Use cold butter for a flaky crust.
- Adjust sugar based on apple sweetness.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
