Ingredients
Scale
- 400g of penne pasta
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of red chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- 400g of ripe tomatoes, chopped or crushed
- Salt to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook until al dente, following the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Incorporate the red chili flakes and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add chopped or crushed tomatoes to the skillet. Season with salt and simmer on low-medium heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Mix the cooked penne into the spicy tomato sauce. Toss well to coat all pasta pieces with the sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped basil leaves and Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately for best flavor.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of red chili flakes based on your spice preference.
- Use ripe, fresh tomatoes for a richer sauce.
- Blend the tomatoes for a smoother sauce if preferred.
- Cook pasta al dente for optimal texture.
- For depth, add a splash of white wine or a pinch of sugar to the sauce.
