Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 slices ham
- 1 cup grated Gruyere or Swiss cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Fresh herbs for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into two rectangles.
- Place each pastry rectangle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden and flaky.
- Remove from oven and layer ham and cheese on top of each baked pastry rectangle.
- Return to oven for an additional 5 minutes until cheese melts.
- Meanwhile, fry eggs in butter until the yolks are sunny-side up, season with salt and pepper.
- Top each puff pastry with a fried egg, garnish with fresh herbs, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use high-quality puff pastry for best results.
- Feel free to add a dash of Dijon mustard for extra flavor.
- Best enjoyed fresh out of the oven for a crispy texture and runny yolk.
