- 1 pre-made pizza crust
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until caramelized, about 30 minutes.
- Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pizza crust.
- Sprinkle with shredded Gruyere, Parmesan, and thyme.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve hot.
Notes
- Feel free to add a splash of balsamic vinegar during caramelization for extra flavor.
- For a crispier crust, pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
