  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook ground beef or sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until translucent.
  3. Transfer the cooked meat and onion mixture to the crockpot. Add crushed tomatoes, broth, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  5. About 15 minutes before serving, add broken lasagna noodles to the crockpot. Cover and cook until noodles are tender, about 15 minutes.
  6. Stir in shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Serve hot garnished with fresh basil or parsley.
