Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces of pasta (penne or spaghetti)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the heavy cream and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well combined and simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Add pasta to the sauce, ensuring it is submerged. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is al dente and sauce has thickened.
- Stir in grated Parmesan cheese. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
Notes
- Feel free to add cooked chicken or shrimp for extra protein.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut milk or plant-based cream.
- Make sure to stir occasionally to prevent pasta from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
