- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add crushed tomatoes, bring to a simmer, and cook for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook orzo in boiling salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Stir the heavy cream into the beef mixture, then add cooked orzo. Mix well and heat through.
- Garnish with fresh basil and grated Parmesan before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter variation.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for some heat.
- For a vegetarian version, skip the beef and add sautéed vegetables.
