This homemade butter chicken combines tender chicken cooked in a rich, spicy, and creamy tomato-based sauce, offering a perfect balance of flavors for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tbsp of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add remaining butter, chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant and onion is translucent.
  3. Add tomato sauce, garam masala, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Return cooked chicken to the skillet, stir in heavy cream, and cook for an additional 5 minutes until sauce thickens.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
