Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup mixed dried fruits (raisins, cranberries, apricots)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
- Add melted butter, eggs, remaining sugar, and vanilla to the yeast mixture. Stir well.
- Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Fold in dried fruits evenly.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf.
- Transfer to a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before dusting with powdered sugar.
Notes
- You can substitute dried fruits with chopped nuts or fresh citrus zest for variation.
- Ensure milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
