Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Peel and slice the potatoes into thin, uniform rounds. Chop the onion and mince the garlic. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until translucent. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika if desired.
- Mix milk and butter in a small bowl, season with salt and pepper to create a creamy mixture.
- Spread a layer of beef mixture in a baking dish, add a layer of sliced potatoes, then repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with potatoes on top.
- Pour the milk and butter mixture evenly over the casserole. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake for about 45 minutes until potatoes are tender.
- Remove the foil and broil for 3-5 minutes to brown the cheese. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use uniform potato slices for even cooking.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes after baking to help it set.
- Add hot sauce or spices for extra flavor.
