- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup softened cream cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Hot pepper jelly for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine grated cheddar, softened cream cheese, flour, salt, and pepper.
- Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Form into a dough, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use a round cookie cutter to cut out small circles and make a shallow thumbprint in each.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven, fill each thumbprint with a small spoonful of hot pepper jelly.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- You can substitute different cheeses like Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack for variety.
- Adjust the amount of pepper jelly based on spice preference.
- These make great party finger foods and can be prepared a day ahead.
